Leave the hustle of Rome behind for a day of pure relaxation. On this Saturnia Hot Springs day trip, you travel north through the Italian countryside to the most famous natural spa in Tuscany. Your transfer, breakfast and lunch are all arranged.
What makes the Saturnia Hot Springs special
The Cascate del Mulino are tiered pools of turquoise water, carved into the limestone by calcium deposits over centuries. The water comes out of the ground at a constant 37.5°C, warm enough to bathe in even in winter.
It is rich in sulfur and minerals, which people have used for centuries for the skin and for breathing. The falls take their name from the old stone mill that still stands beside them. A small café with restrooms and showers is close by.
Breakfast, lunch and two hill towns
The day starts the Italian way, with coffee or cappuccino and a cornetto. After your time in the water, you visit Manciano, the hilltop town known as the "Spy of the Maremma" for its 360-degree views from the mountains to the sea.
Lunch is at a local restaurant, with non-alcoholic drinks included. On the way you pass Montemerano, a twelfth-century village listed among the most beautiful in Italy.
Small group or private
Pick a small-group trip, with a maximum of 15 travelers, or a private excursion for your own group. The private option can include a photo shoot at the springs, so you go home with photos of the day.
