About this experience
The Trastevere Food Tour is a relaxed evening of eating and walking in one of Rome's most atmospheric neighborhoods. Narrow lanes, ivy-covered houses and lively piazzas make Trastevere a favorite with Romans and visitors alike. With a local guide at your side, you taste the dishes Romans know and love.
Your Trastevere Food Tour, course by course
You begin with an authentic Italian aperitivo: a drink and a selection of small appetizers. Your guide explains this much-loved tradition and how Romans start their evenings.
Next come traditional Roman appetizers, made with local ingredients and classic flavors. Then it is time for two street food favorites: Roman pizza and supplì, the crispy fried rice balls you will find all over the city.
Pasta, gelato and the evening stroll
One highlight is a traditional Roman pasta dish. Depending on the season and availability, you may taste one of the city's classic recipes and learn the stories behind them.
You finish with authentic Italian gelato and a final stroll through the busy streets as the evening comes alive.
More than a tasting
By the end you will have tried some of Rome's best traditional food. You also go home with insider tips on what to eat and where to go for the rest of your stay. Come on an empty stomach!
The tour lasts about 2.5 hours, for up to 15 people, and runs in English.
